A Gaming Console That Lets You Play Old Sega And Nintendo Cartridges

Good news Sega and Nintendo fans—it’s time to dust off your old game cartridges because gaming company Hyperkin is releasing a new console that will bring new life to your old games

Called ‘RetroN 5’, it is a five-slot gaming console that lets you play original NES, SNES, Genesis, Famicom, and Game Boy Advance game cartridges.

It even allows you to plug in Super Famicom, Mega Drive, Game Boy Color and Game Boy cartridges.

Thanks to its new chipset, region locks and compatibility won’t be an issue—meaning you’ll be able to play both PAL and NTSC cartridges.

The console also features six different controller ports, allowing you to connect and play using your original SNES, Genesis or NES controllers; alternatively, you can always use their wireless Bluetooth controller, which has customizable buttons to suit the game you are playing.

Announced at the Midwest Gaming Classic last weekend, Wired reported that the price of the console will be around US$100, and its release is scheduled for July 2013.
