Russian artist Sergey Balovin has came up with a way to keep an unconventional alternative lifestyle—to live without money.

Instead of working for money, he decided to barter his portraits in exchange for food, clothing and anything else he may want or need—his “In Kind Exchange” project has proven to be so successful that he no longer needs money.

In addition to physical objects, he has also given away his portraits in exchange for services like hair-cuts and massages.

Art and design-focused website Visual News has conducted an interesting interview with the artist—you can also find out more about his money-less journey on Balovin’s website.
