Peanut Shells Whimsically Turned Into Iconic Characters

Artist Steve Casino has turned peanut shells into many familiar faces from pop culture.

Using some paint and mixed media, Casino created classic favorites like James Bond and Wonder Woman and even famous legends in the entertainment industry like Alfred Hitchcock and Elton John.

Casino’s construction of these whimsical characters is a time-consuming process that takes up to 10 hours to complete.

The process includes cracking the shell, removing the peanut, gluing the shell back, sanding and then painting the exterior.

Limbs and props are next added to the figures before being coated with polyurethane.

Casino’s art pieces can range from USD$300 to USD$500.
