The Only Residential House Designed By Ai Weiwei In The U.S.A

You may not know this, but famous Chinese dissident-artist Ai Weiwei is also a skilled architect—his architectural projects include a collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron on the iconic Bird’s Nest for the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games.

One of his more low profile projects is a country house in upstate New York, which has recently been put on the market—priced at US$4.25m, the striking modernist home consists of four white cubes lined up in a row.

Working with Basel-based firm HHF Architects, Ai has created a spacious 2-bedroom property—with a library, a kitchen and a nearby Y-shaped guesthouse—that looks out onto the Catskills and Berkshire Mountains.
