A leading manufacturer of 3D printers, MakerBot released a limited run of the MakerBot Mixtape in 2012 to show the exciting possibilities of 3D-printing as a production method.

Now, due to popular demand, the company has created an updated version of the MakerBot Mixtape—featuring a user-friendly drag-and-drop option and more storage space—for those who has missed the first batch of this quirky MP3 player. This retro-looking, cassette-shaped device has also been designed to store 3D-printing STL files.

Available in various bright color combinations, this futuristic mixtape is now on sale at MakerBot retail locations in New York, Boston, Greenwich and Connecticut for US$40.

We think that this would make a fantastic gift for a tech-savvy music lover—watch the video below to find out more about it.
