Award-winning designer, entrepreneur, and sustainability advocate Yves Behar has collaborated with soil scientist Jason Aramburu to create the Edyn Garden Sensor, a new way of gardening that merges technology with nature.
The Edyn Garden Sensor is a solar-powered sensor that has a smart stem that is rooted in the soil, measuring moisture levels, fertility, as well as temperature, air humidity, and sunlight.
Through WiFi, the data collected is transmitted to an app on the gardener’s phone, allowing gardeners to grow their plants at an optimum level.
The app also provides further information on which plants will likely grow the best in a particular garden, and sends real-time updates about the garden.
According to Behar’s company Fuseproject, this garden sensor aims to provide "communication between nature and its caretaker".
They also added, "with Jason's knowledge as a soil scientist, we were able to design the app to give the user a contextual snapshot of your garden in a clear and concise way, maximizing their gardening potential."
The project is currently crowd-funding on Kickstarter.
