‘Cover’ App Splits Your Restaurant Bill For A More Pleasant Dining Experienc

We all know how headache-inducing splitting a restaurant bill can be after a dinner with friends—whipping out our phones to calculate the cost of our meal and tip is a scenario most of us are all too familiar with.

To ensure your next get-together isn’t marred by this frustrating experience, Andrew Cove and Mark Egerman have created ‘Cover’, a free app for iOS and Android that promises to eliminate the stress of dining out.

Cove and Egerman are friends who like to eat out together, and were inspired to come up with a streamlined payment process after encountering several bad experiences at restaurants.

After downloading the app, link your credit card to it and head out to eat. At the restaurant, check in all the members of your party at a virtual table, so that the app knows you’re dining together.

When ordering, inform your server that you’re paying with ‘Cover’, and the payment will be taken care of.

The app automatically adds a tip amount and splits the bill among your group. At the end of the meal, simply leave when you’re ready.

Launched in October 2013, the app has racked up 10,000 downloads so far. It is accepted at over 100 restaurants in New York City and San Francisco, and a full list of participating establishments can be found here.

Learn more about the ‘Cover’ app here, and download it from iTunes and the Google Play store.
