Released last week, Fiat’s latest TV ad looks like something that came directly out of Tumblr.
Made entirely of GIFs, the ad features memes such as flying horses, laser-shooting exploding robots, and of course, cats.
According to CMO Olivier Francois, he told Adage that he liked the “raw feel” of the GIFs.
“I thought they were crazy,” he said. “Crazy weird. Crazy fun. Crazy cheap to product as well. Maybe a new culture of commercial.”
“It’s an experiment,” he added. “If it works—and so far so good. If it doesn’t work, no big deal. We didn’t invest so much money.”
