For Christmas last year, ad agency Lola Madrid wanted to extend a warm gesture to their colleagues in the industry—instead of a boring hamper, they created a special rum, named “Ron Draper”, and designed a striking packaging inspired by the golden age of advertising for it.
As 2013 was a bad year for advertising agencies, they wanted to offer a present that fellow ad creatives “could quietly enjoy, even on the worst of nights”—this bottle of rum is meant to be a reminder that things can be better, because it was better, during the glamorous time depicted by popular TV show Mad Men.
The packaging for the Ron Draper rum feature minimalistic icons of things that are associated with that era—including a typewriter, a cigar and a martini—set against a black background.
