Not Just For Kids: A Photorealistic Nude Portrait Made Of LEGO Bricks (NSFW)

Australian artist Drew Sneddon has created stunning, unconventional murals with LEGO bricks, transforming ordinary photos and images into mosaic pieces.

Unlike building the LEGO pieces from his imagination, Sneddon digitally plans the artwork before executing it—the image is broken down into a “pre-determined” number of colors, he then formulates a spreadsheet compiling the precise number of blocks needed for each color.

Each project takes about 30 hours to plan and 100 hours to construct, and another five hours is used for correcting the “lighting and shading” to create a flawless piece.

Stepping beyond creating “castles and spaceship”, his latest installation is a collaboration with Sydney-based photographer Edmond Thommen to recreate a nude picture of his model, proving that LEGO “isn't just for kids”.
