Portraits Of Footballers Who Have Scored In The World Cup Final

Pele. 1958/1970. Brazil. Wins.

World Cup mania is officially in full swing, and what better way to notch up the excitement than to look back on heroes of tournaments past?

In anticipation of the final next month, photographer Michael Donald has captured portraits of football players who have scored in the World Cup final.

Since the World Cup began in 1930, only 56 footballers have scored goals in this momentous event, of whom 35 are still alive today.

They include legends like Brazil’s Pele, England’s Sir Geoff Hurst and Germany’s Gerd Muller.

The portraits are currently exhibiting at the Proud Archivist gallery in east London until 13 July as part of its World Cup-themed celebrations.

View the rest of the portraits here, and if you’re in London, consider checking out the exhibition.
