We previously wrote about Twitter getting in on the World Cup action by releasing an entire range of features related to the global sporting event.
Social media giant Facebook is not losing out as well. With its recent launch of ‘Trending World Cup’, soccer fans can stay updated with the latest game developments while being in the loop with friends’ World Cup-related activities.
Other than having knowledge of the latest scores and match highlights, users can also view a special feed with posts from the soccer teams and players, alongside their friends’.
An interactive map displaying the fan count of top players, and where they are located around the world, is also part of Facebook’s ‘Trending World Cup’ Hub.
Also, once Thursday rolls around with the commencement of the World Cup, you get to post updates of the particular match you are viewing at that moment. This can be done by using the smiley icon and selecting the option of “Watching” before publishing your status.
You might also want to follow ‘Facebook Ref’–a newly created page by Facebook, where you can get “colorful commentary” and match updates when the worldwide soccer action kicks off.
