Suspended Charcoal Columns Depict The Relationship Between Humans And Nature

Seoul-based artist Seon Ghi Bahk has created a series of suspended charcoal installations titled “Fiction of the Fabricated Image”.

His latest collection in the “An Aggregation” series replicates “architectural columns constructed from pieces of natural charcoal suspended on nylon threads”, depicting the disregarded “relationship between nature and civilized culture”, where nature is viewed as a backdrop in current times—the charcoal “represents [how] trees that once stood around us” is now used as architectural “shelters”.
