This Is The World’s First Photoshopped Image

Here’s a bit of trivia you might not know—the idyllic scene above of a topless woman on a beach is the world’s first Photoshopped image.

Titled Jennifer in Paradise, it was taken by Photoshop creator John Knoll in 1987 while he and his then-girlfriend Jennifer were holidaying in Bora Bora. Shortly after taking the photograph, Knoll proposed to her.

While developing Photoshop later in his career, Knoll needed sample photographs to demonstrate its capabilities, and scanned a 6x4-inch print of the picture.

Knoll used it to carry out demonstrations from then on, and included the picture in copies of the software that he distributed to companies, making it the first ever color image to be “shopped.”
