Tiny, Delightful Scenes Of Everyday Life Built Inside Toilet Paper Rolls

French artist Anastassia Elias has built a lovely series of tiny scenes in toilet paper rolls, transforming ordinary household trash into works of art.

The project titled “Rouleaux” features intricately constructed objects from cut pieces of paper pasted on the insides of the rolls, leaving it uncolored to “maintain a uniform circularity” throughout the artworks.

As light shines from the back, these little artworks come to life like a “mysterious work of shadow puppetry”, depicting an evening sunset of scenes spanning “across time and space”—for instance, a hairstylist doing the finishing touches to her last clients for the day and football players scoring a hat-trick.
