2005 VS 2013: The Difference Between 8 Years, As Seen At St Peter’s Square

A recent Instagram post, by NBC News, captures two images of the inauguration of Popes—one from 8 years ago when the world last had a new Pope, and the other just yesterday.

The post shows the stark contrast between how things have changed, between then and now—and more distinctively, how technology has taken over our lives—at the same St Peter’s Square in Rome, Italy.

With virtually almost everyone on the earth in possession of a mobile phone, the previously never-to-be-seen-again event (back in those days) of the unveiling of the new pontiff just becomes another video on YouTube that you can watch over and over again.

Has technology really taken over our lives? What will become of human kind in future eras? Why not we put down our phones for a while…
