The Makoko Floating School project in Lagos, Nigeria will see the completion of three-story architectural structure, that is designed to house approximately 100 students.
The school's shape will resemble a triangular prism that is intended to float on water. Its base is made of a total of 256 plastic drums, and the body of the prism will be constructed with locally sourced wood.
The floating school is also highly sustainable, and will be fitted with solar panels that will provide power. Furthermore, the nature of the design is also well suited to the rising sea levels that is caused by climate change.
This noble project is being accomplished by NLÉ, which is a collaborative agency that aims to provide architectural change for developing cities. These floating buildings are set to change the lives of neighborhood children, who will be able to receive an education.
