South Australia’s new logo has been unveiled—with a design that symbolizes a “doorway” to the country.

Launched by South Australian premier Jay Weatherill, the state’s new brandmark was created because people overseas often confused South Australia with South Africa.

The logo features a bold red outline of Australia, with doorways at the center—representing South Australia’s borders—with a look aimed to “make a bold statement about our place in Australia and our place in the world,” Weatherill said in a statement.

“Our doorway welcomes opportunity. Everyone plays a part in greeting opportunities at every level. Including the people that simple live here and enjoy a world-class lifestyle,” website Brand South Australia stated.

The designing and launching of the brand cost US$1.38 million.

What do you think of South Australia’s new logo? Do you think it still looks like South Africa?
