9000 fallen soldiers were etched into the sand on the beaches of Normandy this past weekend.
The Fallen 9000 was created by British artists Jamie Wardley and Andy Moss, and 500 volunteers to commemorate the civilians, allied forces and Germans who perished during the D-Day beach landings at Arromanches on June 6, 1944 during World War II.
The installation lasted a few hours before being washed away by the tide.
