Chicken Rental Service Lets You Try Urban Farming Without The Responsibility

Rent the Chicken’ is a Pennsylvania-based chicken rental service started by Jenn and Philip Tompkins that lets people try out urban farming.

For $350, the startup provides wannabe chicken farmers with a pair of egg-laying hens, supplies, and lessons on chicken farming and maintenance.

The couple hopes this service will help reduce the number of incidents of people abandoning their chickens after realizing that they are not prepared to care for them.
