The team behind Makeshift Society, a “coworking space and clubhouse for creatives in San Francisco”, has started a campaign on Kickstarter to bring this inspiring project to Brooklyn, New York City.
A year after its launch in San Francisco, with a 300 strong and growing membership, Makeshift Society is planning to set up shop in New York City to bring together a dynamic pool of creative freelancers and independent workers.
Specifically focused on creative professionals such as designers, photographers, architects and writers, the project’s team has found a beautiful space in Williamsburg and is sourcing for funds to turn it into “a vibrant center for creative business in Brooklyn”.
The funds raised will be used to create a collection of communal resources, including lending libraries of digital creative tools, reference books and audio/video equipments—in addition, members will also be able to greatly benefit from the sharing of ideas, expertise and networks.
