We have previously featured photographers who shoot animals masquerading as humans—sometimes, they made use of props like clothes, such as in these portraits of fashionable animals.
Hamburg, Germany-based photographer Ralph Hargarten has left out the silly costumes but still managed to capture uncannily human-like expressions on his canine subjects in the new series “A Dog’s Life”.
Photographed against a stark black background, the dogs’ thoughts and personalities appear to shine through in Hargarten’s pictures—from boredom to surprise, the dogs displayed a myriad of human emotions that you won’t expect to find on their faces.
