Wish you could walk through the streets of Paris, and experience its sights and sounds?
‘L’Air de Paris’ (which translates to “The Air of Paris” or “Paris Air” from French) is a website—and an ongoing project by an ad agency intern—that lets you hear unique melodies from the street musicians of the French capital, to make you feel as if you’re within its vicinity.
Great as ambient sounds to change your mood—like that of coffee shop noises—the recordings are of strangers playing instruments, such as a guitar or violin, or singing on Parisian streets.
The unnamed intern started recording sounds of street musicians since July earlier this year. Discovering these talents, only when he happens to pass them by—sometimes to look for them, he patiently waits at Metro stations, or goes to different Metro stations until a street musician turns up. He also leaves tips for them in their cups.
His secret to hear more street music in Paris: “Take the Metro more often!”
