In A New York Children's Hospital, A CT Scanner Is Dressed As A Fun Pirate Ship

In New York, the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of NewYork-Presbyterian has recently installed a new pirate-themed CT scanner in their radiology testing room.

To make the brain scanning process a less frightening experience for children, the hospital designed its radiology room to look like a pirate-themed room, with the centerpiece being the CT scanner as a pirate ship.

To complete this room, the hospital worked with GE to design and install the scanner. The bold, colorful decor of the room makes it instantly lively and welcoming, a far cry of how medical facilities usually look like.

According to a nurse at the hospital, the design has been very effective. It not only soothes nerves of child patients who need a medical exam, but also slightly older patients from 17 to 21 years old who now specially request to use this machine.
