Photo Series Shows What You Will See If You Looked Down In New York City

Art director Daniel Soares noticed that people mostly looked up in New York City and decided to create a photo series—aptly titled “NYC: Down To Earth”—dedicated to what one sees when one looks down in the Big Apple.

By shooting with his camera placed on the ground, he created a collection of thought-provoking black-and-white photographs that tell interesting little stories about the city and its residents.

From a makeshift newsstand and the homeless, to a trendily dressed girl sitting and reading on the sidewalk, the stories presented in these pictures are diverse but all make up the grand narrative of New York City.

When these photographs were exhibited in a gallery, they were placed on the floor so that the viewer could see them from the same perspective and angle as the photographer.
