In an increasingly fast-paced and stressful world, creative professionals are finding it harder to produce creative work, according to a survey based on 404 creatives across the US and UK.

It’s not that creatives don’t want to create. Rather, it’s the lack of inspiration, the lack of funding, and the lack of time. In the survey conducted by iStock by Getty Images and research firm KRC Research, these were found to be the top three reasons for stagnation and decline in creativity.

iStock has put together an infographic—entitled ‘Study: Creativity Under Threat. No Time To Talk About It.’—that charts these findings, and includes some tips as to where to find creativity and inspiration, and some funny encounters professionals have had with clients.

According to the infographic, the top five places creative thoughts are born are: consuming media, in the office, during commute, in the shower or bath, and while working out.

The top five sources of inspiration are: music, travel, family and friends, co-workers, and caffeine.

Some hilarious requests from clients include: “Make the black darker,” “Make this ad 15% funnier,” “Make a logo out of an eagle carrying a vacuum cleaner,” and “Find eyelashes for a large fiberglass giraffe.”
