Lighting designer Dean Skira has created a massive exhibition titled “Lighting Giants”—lighting up industrial cranes, he has turned an old Croatian shipyard into a tourist attrition.
The installation was funded by the ministry of tourism as “a response to calls for the relocation of the shipping infrastructure, seen by many as an eyesore”.
The cranes were revamped and covered in 100 Red,Green, Blue LEDs creating a spectacular “array of of colorful effects” that is able to produce almost “16,000 different possible hues”.
As the sun begins to set, these cranes come to life, creating a magical atmosphere—it almost seems like a flock of origami birds are performing a celebratory dance along to the music played in the background.
