Photographer Guy Tal has captured some incredible photographs of The Badlands desert in Utah in full bloom.
Located in the American West, the Badlands National Park is a vast, dry region with hardly any plantlife due to the inhospitable surroundings.
However, when weather conditions are right, the arid landscape bursts into life with colorful wildflowers like Scorpion Weed, Beeplant and Pincushion Cacti, transforming the sprawling wastelands into fields of brilliant purple and yellow.
The harsh environment means plants have learnt to adapt to the climate, conserving as much water as possible to bloom and reproduce quickly. They are often short-lived, making for a rare sight.
