New York-based illustrator Brittany Brown has illustrated a series of drawings that aims to encourage diversity in the beauty industry.
Prior to drawing the series, Brown noticed that there was a lack of diversity in beauty images and she believes that “it’s important to show beauty in every shape, every size, every color”.
Calling the series ‘Dark Girls’, the illustrations were drawn using pencil, ink and watercolor. They were inspired by the face charts used by cosmetic companies and features female portraits in both dark and fair skin tones.
The illustrations are also accompanied by the actual makeup tools that can help to achieve the look in her drawings.
