Japanese artist Yasuaki Onishi has created a “dripping installation” titled “Vertical Emptiness”.
After a mesh structure is hung from the ceiling, the artist then pours hot glue and “crystallized urea compounds” over it—the mixture drips and form connectors from the mesh to the ground, creating a light, cascading drape.
To unify the surroundings of the installation, windows of the hall were completely covered in crystallized urea—a painting hung at the background stands in contrast to the white structure, adding a deeper “feeling of isolation” to the piece.
The installation is meant to create a state of void and solitude—what do you think?
