Chicago-based graphic designer, illustrator and photo enthusiast Vadym Chalenko has created a device that lets you use your SLR lenses and accessories with your smartphone camera.
Effectively blurring the line between phoneography and professional photography, the “Beastgrip” is a “universal/adjustable lens adapter and rig system for most camera phones” that allows users to clamp on a variety of camera gear that is conventionally used with professional cameras.
Designed to work with most smartphones, it not only attaches various lenses to your phone, but also includes features like standard quarter-inch threaded mounts and a cold-shoe for tripods and other accessories.
The Beastgrip is currently sourcing for funds to start production on Kickstarter—if successful, Chalenko hopes to put the first Beastgrips into his supporters’ hands by February 2014.
