Elusive street artist Banksy left a sentimental art piece on a wall in King Street—a lonely red heart-shaped balloon covered in bandages.
This work marks the seventh day of his ongoing ‘Better Out Than In’ street exhibition in New York City.
“The helium balloon. An object of such poetry. Its lightness, its fragility, its way of wandering on a breeze. This piece is obviously an iconic representation of the battle to surviving a broken heart. It's an uplifting visual poem to that most fragile of human emotions,” the audio guide on his website explains.
Banksy-foe OMAR doesn’t seem to care for sentimentality—he turned up at the location within hours to ruin the piece. Scroll down to view the images.
