This November, the luxury retailer Hermès will roll out two different kinds of bicycles worldwide.
Named Le Flâneur d'Hermès and Le Flâneur sportif d'Hermès, these vehicles come in three sizes: S, M and L, and two colors—charcoal and blanc d’Espagne.
While the former is a leisure bicycle, the latter is more rugged and is made for city living.
These two-wheelers truly epitomize the French brand's aesthetic—they were hand-made by French bicycle manufacturer TIME, which equipped them with a belt-driven transmission and a shock-absorbing monobloc frame.
Users can also choose between eight or 11 gears for their velocipedes, but these luxurious and lean machines come with a hefty price tag of US$8,000.
François Doré, head of the Hermès Horizons division, stated that he wanted these two-wheelers to be “simple, efficient, easy to use, pleasant and elegant”—a tall order even for the best bicycle manufacturers.
We wonder if this bike live up to functional expectations, or would it merely be a stylish object for display purpose only?
