Using 52 cut-outs in the shapes of buildings, boats, birds and fish, artist Izabela Boloz turned a 100-meter wall into a shadow play screen in her project titled ‘Shadow City’.
The graphics were inspired by the city of Copenhagen, and each one was fitted to a transparent plastic sheet and placed horizontally over a walkway near Sortedams Sø lake in Copenhagen.
As the sun moves, the shadows come alive, travelling across the wall and changing shape. The shadow play can be viewed from a nearby pedestrian bridge, serving as a pleasant surprise to passers-by.
