Stacking Elaborate ‘Salad Towers’ Becomes A Fad In China

When Pizza Hut outlets in China introduced salad bars, customers were given a one-trip opportunity to fill their plates with fruits and vegetables. Since there was no chance for seconds, patrons began piling up their plates, using the space on their plates to the fullest potential. Thus, ‘salad stacking’ was born.

The ‘salad tower’ masterpieces became popular on the internet, with ‘salad engineers’ posting pictures of their creations and exchanging techniques to build the highest towers. Suggestions included using salad dressing to hold pieces of carrot together to form a sturdy base for the ‘tower’.

The salad monstrosities resulted in loads of uneaten, wasted veggies, and Pizza Hut has allegedly removed the salad bars from its restaurants.
