Barcelona start-up Natural Machines has unveiled a kitchen appliance that would be able to 3D print pizzas, pasta, burgers and other foods.

Dubbed ‘Foodini’, the futuristic kitchen appliance aims to make cooking easier and less time-consuming for busy people.

Lynnete Kucsma, cofounder of Foodini said: “The best to think of it is as an assembly device because it doesn’t cook food, it just keeps it warm. We’re looking to take the rote and repetitive tasks out of cooking—hand-wrapping ravioli, for example.”

“It’s a timesaving device for people who want to make their own food in the kitchen,” Kucsma told The Daily Dot.

Foodini can only print one ingredient at a time, and has a built-in heater to keep food warm as it prints. Health conscious users can choose to add the ingredients they want, while creative users can choose various shapes they want their food to take.

The device can also be used to decorate cakes and toasts, and make tarts.

When done printing, users can either eat their meal as it is, or place it in the oven to bake before consumption.

Foodini costs at about 1,000 Euros, and is said to be available mid next year.
