A 200-Feet Long Illustration Created From Overlapping Typewriter Letters

Artist Pablo Gamboa Santos has created an amazing 200-feet long installation from 300 drawings, comprising of overlapping typewriter letters.

Titled ‘Qwerty’, hundreds of pages were arranged in a row along a wall and connected to form an interlocking scene. The overlapping letters comprised of land or water scenes that interact with the detailed illustrations.

Santos was inspired by the first half of the top row on a keyboard and utilized them as a series of jumbled letters rather than words. He explained, “It is in this habitat where beings and associated graphic symbols build narratives to tell stories, report facts, narrate triumphs or tragedies, or just be present or absent. All this happens simultaneously, as in ‘reality’: a world where everything happens at once.”
