Malaysian artist Brian Lai has come up with a unique drawing technique. His “rough” sketches become fully realized drawings when its colors are inverted using a Photoshop filter.
In the video below, Lai demonstrates his technique, which involves first sketching and shading the normal way. He then makes the complete drawing by shading it the inverse way, so that his final illustration would only show up when it is passed through Photoshop’s “invert” filter.
After the drawing is complete, he takes a photograph of it and inverts the colors in Photoshop. The details he has rendered seem to magically appear after he has done so.
Lai manages to render Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine with incredible realism. We wonder what else he will draw next.
