Starbucks’ newest store in New Orleans, USA is designed to resemble an old-fashioned apothecary, as if it belonged to a Louisianan merchant in the early 1900s.
With help from local artists, this store pays tribute to the city’s artistic spirit and its roots as a coffee trading port, and no detail is spared.
Local artisans such as sculptor David Borgerding built chandeliers from old wrought iron gates and vintage horn instruments to remember the city’s mercantile trade and strong jazz roots.
Another local artist, Jason Horton, created 12 block paintings above the bar to showcase the story of coffee, while New Orleans-based Mystic Blue Signs created the hand painted gold leaf signs on the store windows and coffee jars.
The back room of the store is more relaxed, with vintage chairs around a communal table and is decorated with a large mural by Atlanta-based artist Tommy Taylor, referencing the Starbucks siren and New Orleans’ shipping past.
