Despite launching less than a month ago on Product Hunt, Lunchcruit has already gained 1,000 users in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Austin, Boston and Los Angeles.
Lunchcruit is a platform that connects jobseekers with companies in a less stressful environment—over lunch. The platform was created as a side project by Dom Patrick and William Hsu, who both felt a need to disrupt the global job board industry that is dominated by sites like CareerBuilder, Simply Hired and LinkedIn.
Observing that companies hire by relationships and referrals, Lunchcruit seeks to bypass the virtual connections and opt for a midday meal, that allows organisation representatives to establish a personal relationship in a less formal environment.
Jobseekers search the platform and request to have a meal with a company of their choice. Lunches are free and there is no commitment to sign on with the employer. Companies have a right to accept or reject a candidate.
