American artist Michael Jantzen, known for his playful photo series of deconstructed houses (previously featured here), has conceptualized The Footstep Bridge, a jagged and unreal-looking bridge that seems like it was taken from the LEGO world, or an 8-bit video game.
This bridge is a conceptual proposal for a new kind of public footbridge. It has three separate sections, allowing for two staircase sections and one ramp section. The ramp section allows those on bikes, skateboards or wheelchairs to travel through easily, while the series of staircases provide exercise for the user.
According to Jantzen, “those who use the Footstep Bridge, experience a new way of crossing over a road, river, etc. as they move up and down through space and time to get to the other side.”
