Inspired by the “kawaii”—which means cute or kitsch in Japanese—movement in Japan, Fukuoka-based Canadian artist Sofia Molnar has created adorable novelty rings that feature quintessential Japanese meals in miniature.
Paying attention to the color and composition of these dishes, Molner adds another dimension to her work by depicting the food in mid-motion—for instance, one of her rings shows a can of beer being poured into a glass.
While these rings may look good enough to eat, they are actually made of plastic, wood, clay, pottery shards and Japanese Chiyogami paper.
