Charming Illustrations Of Old Grocery Stores Reveal Elements In Vintage Design

Flickr user Allen is a freelance photographer and hobbyist who enjoys all things vintage. He has posted a series of rendered drawings of old-fashioned grocery stores and their signages.

He has scanned these snapshots from a purchased photo album, and whether these stores actually existed created or if these designs were used remains unknown.

On his profile, Allen cites enjoying “photographing old neon signs, cars, motels, gas stations, roadside attractions and suburban life”.

Although we do not know the origin or intended purpose of these images, one can certainly enjoy the vintage artwork in rendering, typography used on signages, and the art deco influence in the architecture of these stores.
