Brooklyn-based photographer Jeremy Harris ventures into abandoned asylums to capture the architectures before the buildings got demolished.

His series, entitled ‘American Asylums’, features the various rooms and hallways of the derelict mental hospital buildings that were once majestic, full and functioning.

With rust, cracking paint, nails-scratched up walls and doors and decomposing furniture, the images exude a haunting and eerie vibe—as if presenting the trauma of the forgotten and tormented patients, who previously lived and died there.
