California-based graphic designer Jherin Miller has created a fun mixed media project where he combines Polaroid photography with the aesthetic of retro video games.
Inserting pixelated characters—illustrated in the style of ‘80s era video games—into dreamily filtered faux Polaroid pictures, he produced quirky images that imagine how two-dimensional graphics would look like in the real world.
In these pictures, groups of pixelated characters are shown having fun skateboarding or simply hanging out—just like if they were real young people.
“My goal was to combine retro film photography and retro digital graphics into one interesting world, and you get to view this world and it’s inhabitants through these ‘photographs’.”
