
South Korean photographer Ji Yeo has created a thought-provoking photo series—entitled “Beauty Recovery Room”—that documents her country’s heightening obsession with cosmetic surgery.
As more and more Korean women are willing to go under the knife to attain the “ideal beauty” portrayed in the media, the cosmetic surgery industry in South Korea is booming.
Featuring post-surgery women sitting in their recovery rooms, the bruises and scars on these subjects tell of the pain that they had to go through in pursuit of the good looks that is deemed to be increasingly important by society.
