Brooklyn-based photographer Nolan Conway has photographed about 180 people at nearly 150 McDonald’s outlets in the U.S.A, as part of a photo project that reveals the incredibly diverse clientele of the fast food giant.
The project took him across the country and allowed him to meet some very interesting characters—including an Alsatian that was perched on top of a car and a man who looks almost exactly like Santa Clause.
The photographer notes that while the settings remain largely the same, the patrons at the outlets are always a surprise—“Especially when you go to more of the rural areas, you’ll get the poor, the wealthy and everyone in between.”
From groups of teenagers to small families, the normal to the strange, these pictures provide a fascinating peek into the McDonald’s “eco-system”, which changes from one outlet to the next.
It also shows that the fast food chain is a social mixing pot where there is “something for everyone”—view more images from the series over here.
