Typographic Anti-Ad Forms ‘Banksy’s Quote’ Into The Shape Of A Coke Bottle

Writer Adam Albright-Hanna recently shared a interesting “Coca Cola advertisement” on Upworthy.com that ironically makes a statement against advertisers.

At first glance, the eye-catching poster, which is made by anonymous persons, looks like a regular Coca Cola ad in the brand’s signature red—this clever “anti-ad” even feature the soft drink company’s iconic typeface.

In fact, the Coke bottle silhouette on the ad is actually formed by the words of a quote attributed to famous graffiti artist Banksy, where he ranted against the unjust visual hegemony that advertisers have in public spaces.

Last year, this particular quote stirred up controversy when it was discovered that Banksy apparently plagiarized it from an essay written by graphic designer Sean Tejaratchi in 1999.

Regardless of where the quote comes from, it still makes a thought-provoking impression when presented in this manner.
