Popular website Brain Pickings has published a collation of vintage library ads and posters from a bygone era.
Some common traits amongst these ads in its retro design. The obvious copywriting and loud, enthusiastic color schemes and layouts are so bad that it’s good.
In an era where literacy rates were significantly lower than today's, and where an education meant that you were guaranteed some job security, libraries were an institution held in respected regard.
That means these ads were not only advertising a product or service, but something that would bring you an actual benefit of some social good.
