Paper Memories is a beautiful, moving short film by Barcelona-based filmmaker Theo Putzu about love, loneliness and memories.
Put together from 4,000 photos, the dialogue-free film follows an unnamed elderly man who discovers an old box filled with letters and old photos, which triggers memories of his late wife.
Putzu takes viewers on a personal journey through the elderly protagonist’s memories as he treks around the city, aided by a cane and armed with a photo of his wife. Watching him, we get a sense of the deep loneliness and longing for the past he harbors.
By the time the film reaches its poignant end, the elderly man’s dying wish to be reunited with his wife is fulfiled.
